How this calculator works
Enter your date of birth and you’ll get your exact age in years, months and days, how many days, weeks and hours you’ve been alive, and how long until your next birthday. Leave the second date empty to calculate your age today, or fill it in to find your age on any other date.
How exact age is counted
The same way you would on a calendar, in three steps:
- Full years since your birth date.
- Full months since your most recent birthday.
- The days left over since that month began.
For example, someone born on July 4, 1990 is, on September 10, 2026:
- 36 years, 2 months and 6 days old.
- 13,217 days old.
- 297 days away from turning 37.
Fun milestones
- 10,000 days old arrives at about 27 years and 4 months. For the July 4, 1990 birthday, that was November 19, 2017.
- 1,000 weeks is a little over 19 years; a billion seconds, about 31 years and 8 months.
To find the date of any milestone, add days to your birth date in the days between dates calculator.
Your age on a specific date
Plenty of rules depend on how old you are on a given date rather than today: school enrollment cutoffs, youth sports age groups, when you can rent a car, or when you qualify for retirement benefits. If you were born in 1960 or later, for instance, your full retirement age for Social Security is 67. Put that date in the second field and you’ll have your answer.
Leap years
Every leap day counts, so the number of days you’ve lived is exact. If you were born on February 29, your birthday only appears on the calendar every four years; in other years most people celebrate on February 28 or March 1.
