About UniversalCalc
Who's behind UniversalCalc, how we build each calculator and where the data we use comes from.
UniversalCalc is a small, independent project with a simple goal: to get one specific calculation right. No sign-up, no app to install and no form to fill in before you see the result.
How we build each calculator
Every calculator starts from a question people really ask: what will my mortgage payment be, how many calories do I need, how many days until a deadline. Before we publish one:
- We take the formula from the official source or the relevant technical literature, and publish it on the page itself so anyone can check the math by hand.
- We test the result against known worked examples.
- We always state the assumptions and the limits: when the result is exact and when it’s only an estimate.
Where the data comes from
The values filled in by default (interest rates, tax rates, typical figures) are reasonable examples and can always be edited. They aren’t updated in real time, so replace them with your own numbers.
How it’s funded
UniversalCalc is free and supported by advertising from Google AdSense. Advertising never influences the results of a calculator or the content of the explanations.
Corrections
